Kokanee ice fishing in Canada

Kokanee are landlocked sockeye that school in open water; small jigging spoons or jigs tipped with a maggot or corn, fished at the depth the school shows on your sonar.

This is general guidance for the species, not advice for any one lake. Check the regulations for the lake you fish: limits, size rules and closures vary by lake.

Lakes where kokanee are recorded

495 lakes on this site have kokanee on record. A lake without a record may still hold them: records come from hand-researched lists, British Columbia fish observations and Ontario stocking data, and are not complete. The largest lakes in each province are listed first.
