Lake Whitefish ice fishing in Nova Scotia
19 Nova Scotia lakes on this site have lake whitefish on record, largest first. A lake without a record may still hold them: records come from provincial open data and our own research, and are not complete. Some records are stocking records, which show what a province has stocked, not everything in the lake.

General lake whitefish tips
Lake whitefish hold over hard bottom in deeper water; small jigging spoons tipped with a minnow head or a piece of roe work best.
This is general guidance for the species, written by Ice Fish Canada, not a report from any one lake. Limits, size rules and closures vary by lake, so read the current Nova Scotia regulations before you fish. Measure the ice yourself: see the ice thickness guidance.
