What are the fishing regulations for Wentzel Lake?

Regulation zone: Northern Boreal Zone — see the Wentzel Lake waterbody table in the Alberta Guide

Season: Governed by the 2026 Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Regulations (season runs through Mar 31, 2027). Many default Parkland-Prairie lakes are open year-round; if the Guide lists no season for a period, that waterbody is CLOSED then.

Limits: Provincial defaults: walleye & sauger combined 3, yellow perch 15, lake whitefish & cisco combined 10, trout combined 5, lake sturgeon 0, bull trout 0 — but named lakes override these in their waterbody tables. Many Parkland lakes set northern pike to a 0 limit, and burbot drops to 0 on many of them from Feb 1. Look up this lake's own entry in the Guide before keeping any pike or burbot.

Licence: Alberta sportfishing licence + WIN card required, bought via AlbertaRELM or a licence issuer. Walleye harvest on some lakes needs a Special Harvest Licence — in 2026 sold first-come, first-served (not by draw), each with 2 tags.

Official regulations (2026 Alberta Guide to Sportfishing Regulations). Always confirm against the current official guide before you fish. This summary may be out of date or incomplete: you are responsible for reading and following the current regulations, and Ice Fish Canada is not responsible for any violation or illegal harvest (poaching) that results from relying on it.
