What are the fishing regulations for Lac Mistassini?

Regulation zone: Quebec Zone 22 — Lac Mistassini (largest natural lake in Quebec)

Season: Quebec has 29 fishing zones, each with its own periods and quotas. In most zones the winter period runs Dec 20 to Mar 31, and fishing through ice requires continuous ice at least 10 cm thick where the zone rule states it. Cree community of Mistissini is the access point; local guidance is essential. Check Zone 22 periods and quotas. Always check this lake's zone page for waterbody exceptions…

Limits: Catch limits and length limits vary by zone and waterbody — e.g. walleye slot is 37-53 cm in Zone 6 and 32-47 cm in many northern zones, lake trout minimums vary by zone. Use the official zone table for this lake; do not rely on a neighbouring zone's numbers.

Licence: Quebec sport fishing licence required (resident / non-resident classes), plus a government photo ID. Additional access rights / fees can apply in a ZEC, wildlife reserve or outfitter territory.

Official regulations (Quebec Sport Fishing — Zones, Periods, Limits and Exceptions (Quebec.ca / MFFP)). Always confirm against the current official guide before you fish. This summary may be out of date or incomplete: you are responsible for reading and following the current regulations, and Ice Fish Canada is not responsible for any violation or illegal harvest (poaching) that results from relying on it.
